the very hungry caterpillar

nothing says cute like a baby
and nothing is cuter than the hungry caterpillar
especially for a baby shower

this banner was made for a baby shower using a retired set called bugs and kisses
each banner picture was made using the marker to stamp technique and then colouring it in once stamped
the cupcake toppers were made the same way and then stuck onto a scallop circle punch

ps sooooo NOT my baby shower...just in case you were wondering lmao

baby gift

at the creative crew this month we were asked to create a whole pile of things using many different card folds-some i had never tried before which was great!
so i had a play with the designs in smaller scale before committing to bigger and grander ideas :>
so i made a baby gift set of thank you cards for the new mum.
i used an old coffee jar and decorated it with just add cake paper keeping to a neutral purple and green theme so it can go to a boy or girl mum

 so here it is!
6 tall cards, 4 easel cards and 4 quarter fold cards.
i used the baby tees jumbo roller and the baby bundle stamp set.
i also used the tasteful trim border die cut and some embroidery thread
all the pictures were coloured in using eggplant and wasabi ink and a blender pen
 tall card
 easel card
quarter fold card

simple and easy gift

vintage baby album

a good friend recently had a beautiful baby girl.
she is also a huuuuuuuuge jane austen fan.
i thought i would try and combine the 2

the cover of the album is a box made from thick brown card. i sponged ink all over it with soft suede, concord crush and river rock. i rolled the musical notes wheel over it and embossed with gold on the cover to help age it. i added some vintage lace and matching ribbon plus some pretty pink pearls.

Inside i added an accordion album made from kraft card with the lap of luxury dsp as a highlight.
the kraft has been rolled with the musical notes roller
and sponged with suede and river rock and concord crush.
i have to fess up that i originally loathed the l.o.l dsp
but since being on my vintage roll i am finding it very suitable for such things as it just 'fits'
....go figure huh?!
now just before putting the accordion album in,
i stuck some pink taffeta ribbon inside so it could tie up and not explode all over the place.

see how it all fits nicely into the box part?
cool huh?

here's a bit of detail from the front of the album.
i used vintage lace and the scallop edge punch with a hole punch out of it.
then i added a pink bow and a tiny paper flower i had coloured in with a tiny pearl in the middle.

hope the recipient likes it

pennant die leftovers #1

as promised here are some cards i have made using up the last of the leftover scallop circles.
i have a baby market to go to in a couple of weeks so thought i had better start prepping for that!

i used the scallop circles for the main body of the pram then added a small oval for the handle.
the wheels were done with a the 3/4" circle punch and the 1/2" circle punch.
i also punched out small holes in the scallops to make them prettier :>

hopefully they will sell well at the markets

and remember to keep looking for more leftover projects!

baby baby i love you!!

I am doing a card swap with my good crafty friends at essential baby (who should send me their blog addys so I can put them on my listy list). Here are my efforts for January and February. february Involved a baby card with the optional extra of using ribbon. I decided this would be an excellent way to use up all those scrappy end of ribbons that are just not enough to do anything cool with. I made my baby using polymer clay and a ginger bread man cutter. baby got cooked in the oven for about 5 mins (imagine if our own pregancies were that quick :>) and left to cool. I layered baby onto some corrugated yellow card, bright orange Su card and finally some basic black SU card. I scallop punched the edge and added some left over ribbons and some stripey adhesive paper. Down the bottom I have stamped welcome baby from the short and sweet stamp set-one of the most versatile sets Su ahs to offer in my humble opinion...just because I probably use mine every time I stamp!!! My january card was a congratulations card with the optional extra of uisng metallics. I used the stamp set a happy heart from the summer mini catalogue. I stamped with versamark onto white gloss card. Then I embossed with gold (and a touch of cranberry added to give it a twist) powder. Then I rubbed over the image with my daubers a mixture of river rock, choc chip and some bronze inks. when they were dry I gave them a bit of a rub over with my sanding block to give it a more textured look to it. The I mounted this onto some scalloped black card and some newspapery paper I have had for yonks but never found a use for..until now :> I added a bit of gold ribbon leftover from my christmas card making stash and then stuck it all onto black card...ta da! oh and I rounded the corners too and wrote congratualtions insdie with gold gel pen.
