butterflies

there is a funny story behind these cards. i made some cards for a swap a while back and thought i had sent them to their intended address.

they didn't arrive and totes blamed oz post and nz post 

and so i decided to make some more so my swappees didn't miss out

..............seems i had let them fall down the side of my car (you know that annoying space between seat and middle console where all your crap goes) so now i have 2 cards for the same sketch lol

 i didn't have much fabric left for these ones so only added a tiny bit to them

i also turned the sketch around to accomodate my swallowtail

for the stamped image i inked the image up with markers and then sprayed the stamp with water to make it all smudged together

i added some bling because...well...damn...who needs a reason really?!!!!

hope i have inspired some of you to take out your punches and use them :)

this week's inspiration is a sketch

quite unusual i must say

initially i was inspired to do an invader zim card

but figured he may be a bit too obscure for most of you lol

so went with my second inspiration of a fishing card

 here is my take on this week's sketch

 i used a variety of oval and circle punches to make this card.

i also went through all my blue and green leftover pieces of card and used them to get all the different colours

 the fishlips are the heart punch and the eye is the ornament punch

 inside i kept the theme going with the leftover punched out bits and using the same sentiment.

 my fish hook is a paperclip and i added some sequins to add some bling

here is the sketch and inspiration for this weeks challenge

here is my take on this months sketch

i love a bit of colour in my cards

(actually it should really be LOVE!!)

so i couldn't resist adding a bit to this sketch

even though i tried to be more subtle by using watercolour pencils 

 to make my card i used a hexagon punch as a stencil and drew the shapes onto watercolour paper.

then i coloured them in with watercolour pencils-a different colour per hexagon

and used an aqua painter to blend them together.

to make the lines i used stampin up's rows of tiny pearls

the butterfly was made using the swallowtail stamp and stamping with versamark onto vellum and then embossing with white embossing powder.

all i did next was punch out the middle of the butterfly, added some glitter, bling and silver cord

just add ink sketch challenge

this week i have the extraordinary honour of being a guest designer at just add ink

be still my beating heart!!!!

it was a sketch challenge 

so used it for a scrapbook page of my eldest when she was merely 10 days old and newly escaped from the baby icu at wellington women's hospital and home for the first day. 

i had her lieing soaking up some much needed rays in her bassinette in the sun (jaundiced baby) and she gave me this beautiful smile of contentment

 i have used a 12x12 peice of pink pirouette with some stampin up dsp (the green one is crimped).

then i have added some silver hodge podge hardware. 

as a title i have used the letters from a retired su set called headline alphabet,

stamped them in daffodil delight

and then gone over them with some crystal effects

the flowers are a cuttlebug die that i have coloured with ink and a watercolour pen.

i have added some crystal effects to them and a sparkley rhinestone brad

now go forth and create!
