just add ink #250 just add inspiration

another awesome challenge from the just add ink team

this time it was an inspiration challenge
when i saw this all i could think of was a high tea with friends and copious amounts of tea and biscuits and china tea cups
this is what i came up with
a card in a box using the from my heart stamp set from stampin up
i have also used some beautiful pink ribbons and lace and the gorgeous rosettes
punches used include the small butterfly and a border punch
the cups were stamped in black and pink pirouette ink and fussy cut
i cut around the from my heart stamp and utilised different aspects of it in different ways for the inside of the card in a box
the front of the card with some bling and pearls
the view from up top so you can see the mechanics of it
the back of the card where you can write your greeting
a view from the side using spots from the kinda eclectic stamp set

hope this inspires you this week

just add ink #249 just add sketch

wow!
this is pretty cool!
a guest designer for february at just add ink!!

welcome welcome welcome
here is the sketch and inspiration for this weeks challenge
here is my take on this months sketch
i love a bit of colour in my cards
(actually it should really be LOVE!!)
so i couldn't resist adding a bit to this sketch
even though i tried to be more subtle by using watercolour pencils
to make my card i used a hexagon punch as a stencil and drew the shapes onto watercolour paper.
then i coloured them in with watercolour pencils-a different colour per hexagon
and used an aqua painter to blend them together.
to make the lines i used stampin up's rows of tiny pearls
the butterfly was made using the swallowtail stamp and stamping with versamark onto vellum and then embossing with white embossing powder.
all i did next was punch out the middle of the butterfly, added some glitter, bling and silver cord

hope you like
and see you next week!!!!

geometric orange

orange is my favourite colour
just in case you hadn't gotten the hint
mwahahahahaha
so i have been playing with
loads of orange lately

here is my play on a sunburst pattern
with punched out circles and pearls and using a variety of su oranges
the circles are done by punching the smallest circle first and then punching the bigger one around it
just make sure you punch fast otherwise it may not like it very much
then i just added a sentiment
-any would do-
but this is for a thank you card for a friend

using up your stash

stash
it is a nasty word
especially when you have a bit of it and need to use it up
i am trying to cut down on my random purchases this year and use what i have got first
HAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAAHA i hear you laughing because WHAT CRAFTER IN THEIR RIGHT MIND hasn't said that before riiiiight?!

anyways my friend sal gives us cardmakers these really cool swaps to do over at essential baby  and i try really hard to use stuff that i haven't touched at all or can't remember the last time i used it. our challenge was to do a centre step card and use stripes and people.
a centre fold card is easy even for a non-measuring type of chick like me. for instructions go to splitcoast stampers  and they are very simple to follow. i used some retired su dsp for the stripes and an old fashioned stamp from my stash as the image.
i wanted the image to look old so put it through the big shot with a broken window embossing folder and then put clear embossing over the top
i also added some embroidery string, flowers from a reverse garbage trip, punched out trim  and a row of small pearls.
i hope my swap girls like them
