the giving for the hell of it gift....

i belong to a parenting site from new zealand http://www2.everybody.co.nz which i have belonged to since i was pregnant with my eldest. It is full of interesting and lovely people who generally get on :) I opted in to a crafty gift making group where we make something for a random stranger that they (hopefully) will like from the craft we are good at. the person i got likes collecting china tea pots. so i went down to my local vinnies and sourced the ugliest teapot you have ever seen (but had a cool shape) and proceeded to otp it. i used ribbon and loads fo it! i added soem patterned paper. i made some patterned paper from a roller stamp and white paper and red ink. i used a lot of su sticky strip!

a bit of a catch up

i thought i had better show some stuff i had done earlier before i showed some new stuff. i did a few workshops with these dinky little cd cases recently. they are great for mini albums, storing circle cards, or...gasp...shock..horror...as cd cases..who would have thought? lol!!!! they are very easy to make and embellish. all they are, are patterned paper (su bali breeze dsp), some flowers (su flower fusion), some brads (su rhinestones)and beads (su pretties kit). i also added some basic black card stock that i had punched with the scallop edge punch and (although impossible to see-you will have to take my word for it!!) i then stabbed stitching holes on the top to add some faux stitching on it. paper was stuck down with sticky strip (OMG that stuff is sooooooooooo sticky!! waaaaaaaaaay better than bog standard dst for otp stuff) and the flowers were done with tombow (which is also my new favourite glue btw). my next project was to pretty up my card album. i take this album out to demos to show people the variety of cards i make for demos and workshops. i also show it as an example of what else you can do with stamps. a lot of people think it is just cards that stampin up do and for me anyways it is waaaay more than that. in fact cards play a very small part in what i use the stamps for. i love using them with polymer clay..i must take photos of the stuff i do to show you...whoever you are that is reading this :) can't just be my hubby lol it is just a $2 album from top dollar with a clear plastic front. i stamped a back ground and added some white embossed letters to it. i cuttlebugged some butterflies and added some lace and ribbon to the spirals on the spine. inside i just aded a stamped back ground to add to the front page without it being too ott. okies better go and pack...only 15 days to go before we are in our own little house and less than 30 days before we meet our latest bundle of joy... cheers ears

32 weeks and counting.....

we had a sizing scan this week and bubs is currently 32 weeks old but is measuring about 35 weeks. so another big bubba is on its way!!! convention has been and gone but i thought i had better show off the 'purple frankie' swaps i did for it. i had a ball making these and they are an adaption of my previous green frankenstein ones i did earlier for an essential baby card swap. these were made with some lovely lilac , basic black and gloss white card stock. i punched out the eyes and nose and added some frayed edge hair-you know the kind you loved making at school : ). then i put the mouths and scars on with black journalling pen-i got bored doing the same face so had a bit of a play with different expressions...some of my frankies are looking a little stoned : ) these next cards were made for an essential baby card swap. these were the other ones that went with the little miss naughty ones i showed you all before. they are trifold cards and i used up some old patterned card stock (not su stuff...ssssshhh). the front has the pretty as a princess stamp set coloured in with water colour pencil and a dab of glitter. this was cut out and stuck onto glorious green card stock which was then stuck onto cameo coral which then had a plain thin white ribbon attached to it and stuck onto the front. i used the scallop edge punch and poked holes in the scallop part to add some interest (oh and to meet the optional extras of the card swap which was paper peircing). the next fold has the princess phrase on it and inside the card is happy birthday with the wand and flower images stamped in lovely lilac ink. these next cards are for this months card swap. the theme is 'just a note to say...' and the technique was masking. these cards are envelope cards with the template from mirkwood designs http://www.ruthannzaroff.com/mirkwooddesigns/templates.htm). this site rocks and always has great templates that are user friendly. i also cuttlebuggged the inside card with some embossing folders and rubbed over them with some ink and a dauber. i have done them all in different colours as i wanted to use up some old existing non-su card stock i have lying about. my masking was done with retired stamp sets and the writing was done on the computer with word art and then punched out to add to the flower with a brad from my stash. then i added some ribbon to each card and dibby dabby daubered around all the edges where needed. cheers ears Chicken: [trying to cheer up Cow] I know you hate being ugly, but someone has to make everbody else look good.

yes i am here!!!!!

yeah yeah yeah i know...oober slack blogger here but i have some great excuses!! 1. I am pregnant. Need I say more? :) 2. I am a mummy to a 5, 4, and 1 1/2 year old. Busy busy busy. 3. I am moving house!!! woohoo!!!! and all that that entails-sorting, packing, sorting, packing, shifting, packing blah blah blah-you get the picture...... 4. well...um....i'll think of another one later hehehehehehe anyways i have been at the Stampin Up 2009 convention in Canberra where i got super inspired and met a whole lot of interesting and amazing ladies (mainly). it was so cool. i had a ball and came home refreshed and ready and rearing to go. if you are reading this and went to convention 2009 please say hi!!! before that though i have been making cards once again for my essential baby card swap. this time it was girl birthday cards and the special technique was paper peircing. i have also been making it a special thing of my own to use up all my non-su stash hanging around as i seem to have an awful lot of it...sssssshhhhhh....don't tell my hubby...sssshhhhhhh here are the cards inspired by little miss purple hahahaha. strangely the card stock is exactly the same colour in real life but photos different. ah well. the hands move around and were put on seperately from the body. eyes are apunch and the mouth is half a circle punch. these were fun to make. okies that's me for now cheers ears Everyone is nice till the cow gets into the garden” irish proverb
