maisy the mouse

i have a three year old who loves loves LOVES maisy the mouse
not sure who she is?
she is so cute
just like my three year old

so my mission was to make maisy for miss 3

the tricky bit was getting the head the right shape. a triangle was too pointy so i used a large scallop circle to get the shape i needed. i also used an oval to get the rounded bit at the back
the rest of the card is easy :>
large scallop circle die for skirt and ears
square for body and arms
modern label punch for hands, feet and legs
scallop oval for lacey bits on sleeves and neckline
owl punch for hearts and eyes
1 1/4" circle punch for the balloon
1/2" circle for her nose
tail was done by cutting around the edge of a cut-out oval

a great big shout out to the people who have come from the southern girls blogspot challenge-it is lovely to have a few new people checking out my punch art :> this card was done with their challenge in mind-it was die cuts and punch art!!! they must have known i was making something punchy today :>

board gaming jewellery

hubby is an avid board gamer
he loves board gaming as much as i love papercrafts
just sayin'

we have just spent a weekend away at border-con...a meet up of over 100 gamers and families at the nsw/victoria border over a long weekend. it is awesome!!!!!

during the weekend we raise funds for a charity of choice. this year it was for chronic fatigue syndrome and we raised over $2500 which was amazing!!! to do my little bit i contributed several geek inspired craft things for the raffle.
 earrings based on gaming cubes
earrings based on a monopoly house
cufflinks inspired by the sheep for wood cry that tends to go on a bit during a settlers of cattan game lol

if you are interested in aquiring any of these items i am happy to make some for a $5 donation to the chronic fatigue organisation. contact me at clare@crafty-cow.com for your gaming inspired jewellery

my convention swaps-the original idea

convention swaps are awesome. i love the whole interaction and swapping and creativeness of fellow demos and what everyone brings to the day. it is lovely to meet people in real life whose blogs you follow and who you read about in su publications. i love the atmosphere-it is a very special awesome buzz as people see old friends they haven't seen for a year and it is just fantabulous!

anyways here are my original ideas for convention swaps. i initially got my inspiration from a stampin up set called googly ghouls which completely captured my imagination. nothing like transferring an idea into punch art :>

keep posted for what i actually made seeing i was not making one offs lol

brisbane 2013 stampin up convention swaps

a big hi if you are here via a convention swap and you got one of mine :>
this is wolfie
he is made using the following punches
boho blossoms-ears, paws, feet and chest hair
oval-head, face with the top bit using the flower punch
word window-trousers then torn off
ticket duo-shirt and sleeves
1" circle for the moon

witchy was made with the following punches
 petite pennants-hat, dress
owl-hair, boots, button
oval-face
word window-arms
xl oval for rim of hat
star-merry mini set

frankie was made with the following punches
oval-head
tag-body
petite pennant-legs
circle-feet, smile
boho blossoms-ears and flower

vampire was made with the following punches
petite pennants-body, wings and collar of cape. i punched the pennants out of the leftovers from the scallop duo die to get the scallop look on the wings.
word window-arms and legs
boho blossoms-ears
circle-bat and wings, face and hair. the hair was done the same way as the wings but using the body of the bat and it's wings to give the shape.

mummy was made using the following punches
ticket-body
word window-arms and legs and mouth
circle-head and face
heart-owl
texture of mummy was originally done by my stylus but then i found an embossing folder (ssssh not su but i have made one using string and card before)and it sped up the process considerably :>

all swaps used the scallop square duo die and either an embossing folder for a background or some dsp. i always use tombow for myadhesive or dimensionals. the tombow is very forgiving and yo can easily move pieces that don't quite glue how you want them to.

please say hi if you got one and many thanks for swapping with me!!

handmade paper bead necklace

i seem to ahve copious amounts of dsp this year thanks to an awesome special i achieved early on in the year so i thought i really need to find something to make with ti all. thanks to pinterest i found an easy tutorial to make these paper beads-very simple but quite tedious and messy but the end result was worth it!

this was only 1 sheet of dsp cut into triangles about 4cm width. i rolled them around a toothpick and glued them wth crystal effects. when they were dry i varnished them with crystal effects.
 close up of a bead
i added some matching plastic beads to the necklace and even had enough left over to make a pair of earrings :>

convention swaps 2

here are some swaps i made for a few special people at convention.

i used a piece of chipboard and stamped pleasant poppy stamp with a friend stamp from little friends set. i used a dauber to put the colours on and then covered them with crystal effects.
these are little brooches to wear at convention

convention swaps part 1

for those who aren't in the know
there are a hoarde of stampin' up demonstrators descending upon brisbane over the next few days for their annual convention
i will be there too!!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!

anyways we have been asked to make a special card for something special and so i have made this card for this as well as for a stampinkpaper team swap
i was inspired by this card by tami and added my own touches to it

here is the card with it's matching envelope. made with the greeting card kids stamp set and using a variety of stampin up dsp and ribbon. i made the clouds from the different types of scallop punches we stock and just cut them in half.
inside i have put more clouds to write a message on
here is the card closed. i love the way the clouds look like they are floating in the sky

hope the stampinkpaper girls at convention like them

stampinkpaper blog hop

welcome welcome welcome
this is the stampinkpaper blog hop for some mummy's day inspiration.

hello if you have come from our illustrious leader's blog miss michelle or started here

hopefully these ideas will inspire you make something handmade for a special lady in your life
firstly i give you a skirt!
yes i know...frightening enough i have been sewing..well actually no...i have been cutting out fabric and sticking to more fabric to be honest. i haven't actually touched my sewing machine. i used the circles #2 originals die and some fabric from the more amour and summer smooches range and our fabric adhesive (my new best friend)
being a random kind of gal i randomly placed the dots all over a skirt i had picked up at a local op shop. all i did was ironed on the fabric to the fabric adhesive. then ran it through the big shot several times, peeled off the backing and placed them. then i plonked my iron on top and counted to 10 and took it off! woohoo all done easy peasy!

now to go with the skirt you need some accessories.
i have made up a few things to match the skirt...
a hairclip, necklace and ring
all using the fabric to make it all matchy matchy lol plus a nice card to write your special message in
 the card is very simple.
outside is some real red card with the polka dots embossing folder, added a black card strip with some fabric over it. then added a rosette made from fabric and a bit of black felt tied up with a button and baker's twine.
inside i have put a circle with arrows pointing to some of the words to highlight them.
the hairclip is made from various circles of fabric and felt and a button from my button box. the hairclip was glue on with a hot glue gun
the ring had a flat marble with some fabric glued to it with crystal effects stuck to it.
the pendant is just a simple square of the more amour fabric stuck in with some crystal effects.
a simple handmade gift that is easy to make for very little cost.
remember now if you want any of the stampin up stuff i have used here please feel free to visit our online store and purchase it. check out the button up at the top right of the blog :>
