stars wars cards

so 2016 and the start of a new crafting year
maybe i will actually get more done this year as 2015 was a sad sad case of affairs due to the cow getting a full time paid teaching job
which was "YAY!!!" for me but
"MEH" for my craft mojo and it went on a holiday

now it is school holidays and i get some time to get my craft on
i also have been getting my geek on with the latest star wars movie
so what better than to combine the 2
RIIIIIGHT??!!!
my first card was inspired by a sketch from retro sketches and the cool dsp stack going places and the stamp set grateful bunch

i used one piece of dsp as my death star and another for space. the sentiment is from the grateful bunch stamp set (quite a flowery set-not normally associated with stars wars lmao)
inside i used my rotary stamp to finish off my sentiment and punched and glued a pile of confetti stars

so my next stars wars inspired card was based on a CASE challenge over at the global design project blog #GDP016
bibi cameron had a shaker card design to CASE which i turned around and used
once again i used the sentiments from the grateful bunch set and just rearranged a la yoda :)

enjoy your holidays and wishing you many crafty thoughts in 2016

autumn card

soooo not my colours but i love a challenge :)

with all those autumnly colours i thought why not a autumn card
using a leaf die i have had sitting around for just such an occasion
i placed them in a card in a box to get a 3d effect

i sponged the outside using a stencil from the sheet of card that i cut the leaves from
to make the coloured card i inked up a glass mat with the challenge colours,
spritzed it with water to smoosh it all together
and then laid the paper on top of it.
i dried it quickly with a heat gun
and then die cut what i needed out of the sheets

bliss

i don't generally do clean and simple
i am more of a crazy and colourful kinda chick
so when i saw the challenge at casology this week
involving the TROPICAL theme
i had to do a picture that has been
playing around in my head for awhile

so here is my idea-still not quite right but this can be a work in progress-a beginning of an idea
i have been playing around with the smooshing technique
-basically put i splodged ink all over my glass cutting mat,
spritzed with water,
jiggled with the ink to make them all run nicely together
and then plonked a piece of paper on top of it.
simple really and a very cool random technique

my girl's dress was made using the bow tie punch
hat with an oval
hair and arms with the bird punch
waves were just randomly torn out of dsp
sentiment done with the rotary stamp

luscious lady

here is my luscious lady for this weeks challenge over at just add ink
the challenge this week was all about colour
and for the challenge at simon says
who wanted a special lady

my lady was made using a couple of large circles for the dress, arms, face and hair.
her sunnies were double punched from smaller circles
lips from a label punch with a circle

the pattern on the dress is from
the printed petals stamp set
the dress is what we call a "design feature"
aka a stuff-up lol
i was trying to do some water colouring-spritzing the water colur paper and then stamping the image on to get a watercolour effect...well...it was working just fine until a small child bumped into me and made me drop the stamp wrongly...lololol...so rather than bin it i decided to use it for other things...keep watching over the next few days to see what else i made with my "design features" and the real thing...

a pretty little tree

i bought myself a new die this week
a pretty little tree
so i just HAD to make a card with it asap

luckily the ladies at colour me gave me some colour inspiration for my new toy lol
daffodil delight
tempting turquoise
calypso coral
melon mambo
to get the background the way it is i just sponged some tempting turquoise on whisper white

another card for a special birthday frind this month

a pretty lady

using wisteria wonder, peach parfait, cool caribbean, and certain celery.

when i saw those colours i knew i had to make this lady
that had been rummaging around in my crafty brain lol

she was made with the following
xl oval-arms, hat
11/4" circle-face, stomach, hat
bow builder-bow
itty bitty flower-flowers
owl-eyes
heart-bust
scalloped oval-hair
tasteful trim-dress trim

now you peeps with the sharp eyes will probably go
oh my..she hasn't used the right colours!!!
and you would be right :)
i didn't have all those colours so used as close as i had
and here is the inside.
this is going to an inky friend of mine who is celebrating her birthday this month

a frozen olaf

if you are a mother of little girls
then you are like me
and know all the words to "let it go"
my kids (yes even the man-cub)
have enjoyed frozen
and love watching snippets of it on you tube
especially olaf
he is the best :)
here is my ode to olaf.
i have done a shaker card
with seed beads, snow flakes
and sequins in the middle
olaf is made using a variety of circles and ovals
with the bird punch for his arms
 around the edges i have
used some snowflake chain i had
plus some buttons from my stash.
the top i used some white ribbon with a heart charm and bakers twine
and used an itty bitty banner framelit
with a hand written sentiment
(because i didn't have one small enough to fit in it that i liked lol)
 i embossed the window sheet
with a snow flake design
and used the leftovers as embellishments
for the corners
and added some pearls and diamantes to them
here's the shaker element of the card
with an embossed cover and seed beads,
sequins and snowflakes inside
and in a large scallop circle shape

the idea for a shaker card was inspired by the challenge set by the just add ink girls
and i figured it was quite a cool element
to add to my olaf card

wonder woman

let's face it
as little girls growing up in the seventies and eighties
we all wanted to look like linda carter,
wear a wonder woman outfit and tie the bad guys up with gold lassoes
or maybe it was just me lolol

i was attempting to punch art a wonder woman tonight
and made one
not quite happy with the design but she is a work in progress i think

i made her and then wondered...well what do i do with you know?
she really needed to go on a card
so i visited a few challenge pages and found a nice sketch over at retro sketches that suited the style of card for wonder woman
most of her costume was made from a butterfly punch
rest of body sued an oval punch for head, modern label for legs, owl for those spunky red boots and hair
arms and neck was an oval punch cut out with a word window for the arms and a 3/4" circle for the neck

a wonky card

i made a card this week for a just add ink challenge because i really didn't like the colours they choose so figured i should really do it to get out of my comfy little craft space lol

here is my card.

i used the world map stamp and the love you more stamps.
added some buttons and made a frame using some stamps for a card swap i am doing
i also added some rub-ons (card swap challenge) rom my stash of stuff

now...trick question...what is wrong with the stamping on my card?

gold star to the person who gets it right lmao

you are my sunshine....my only sunshine

it is raining where i live today
and my son is STILL home with the chicken pox
so i had to come and play in my craft room today
oh dear, how sad

for me today in the form of sunbursts

the card is a window card and i have cut the sun bursts out so you can see the clouds behind
i inked it up with a variety of yellow inks plus some pumpkin pie and poppy
inside i made the clouds using a scallop circle punch as a stencil and added a bit of feel good sentiment to the card
the circles are cut using the tiny circle punch and the cropadile

hope the recipient likes it when i send it to her

you mean the world to me

we have the pox at our house at the moment

apart from the itchy oozey gross spots
and the lock down proceedures
and the sudden lack of visitors
it has been a good thing cause it has
meant i have been stuck at home and get to make some stuff
in between rubbing cream all over chicken pox spots
ah the joy of motherhood aye?

i was inspired by the challenge over at retro sketches
to make a multi layered card
as i have been wanting to case it for a while
i used the cork bits from a 2014 sab kit to add some neat texture
as well as the cool cloud embossing folder and the natural specialty paper for the tree trunks
inside i have made another tree and the apples are candy dots
stamp is from apothecary art-a stamp set i love but never use lmao and that was my challenge to myself-use a stamp that i have never used...

do you have a stamp you have never used?
dare you to use it today and show me :>

a mouse tail

i quite like mice
-not in my kitchen you understand
but on cards they are just adorable lolol
although this one may have eaten all the cake already given its belly

 here's a birthday mouse
using colours i wouldn't normally use
pistachio, crumb cake and gold
i have also included a decorated an envelope to match
missy mouse is doen in crumb cake
balloon done in pistachio
and the string is done with gold
i have also sponged all around the mouse in gold too
balloon was made using the owl punch with the sketched birthday stamp for the sentiment
inside i have used washi tape to make it pretty and matchy matchy

hopefully this mouse doesn't scare its recipient lol

tardis card whee oooo wheeeee

we are slightly obsessed by doctor who at our house
which is not a bad thing
really
truely
it's all relative on the timey wimey
wibbley wobbley
geeky spectrum anyways

so here is my doctor who card for this week
based on the tardis
idea for the layout came from a
bet the girls never saw that one coming lol
the stripes down the side were made
using the gorgeous grunge set
in loads of different blues
and then sponging the edge
and then cutting it with my fringe scissors
to make it all wibbley wobbley
and then making it all spacey wacey
with the glitter

now to find me a time lord to give it to

supreme dalek birthday

daleks do not take orders
but i do
especially when it involves a 10 year old boy
who is slightly obsessed by doctor who
this is an updated version of a dalek compared to the old one i did a while back.
this one is bigger and has more details

i must admit to hardly using any punches-mainly the little circles for it's domes, circle die for it's head and the mosaic punch for it's arm.
the rest is strips of card
circle upon circle for the domey womey knobbley wobbley bits
(that's time lord lingo fwiw)
i also used a bit of silver ink daubered around the edges of stuff to give it a bit of a lift and some depth.
here's the very simple card front
stamp is from lots of bots-now sadly retired

card from the top
the inside with the dalek saying ce-le-brate, ce-le-brate instead of exterminate
far nicer for the birthday child methinks lol
so that is the card done
now to make the gift
stay tuned :>

scrapbooking

i have a pile of photos on my craft desk
waiting ever so patiently for me to scrap them
when i saw the challenges over at
i was like
AWESOME
i know exactly what photos will go with those challenges
and here we go......
the less is more challenge wanted one layer and a frame-check!
i used presto patterned paper inked up and coloured.
i am not sure if adding a photo counts as a layer but i am interpreting it as a no :>
the paper players had a colour challenge which totally matched the colours of my photos
wasabi, daffodil and mango
which were the colours i inked onto the presto patterned paper
i also stamped joy from welcome christmas and the key from artistic etchings both in wasabi
i used markers to highlight some areas as well.

i am resisting the urge to put in brads and chipboard...must.resist....
