chillin' on the couch

totally cased this awesome card design
from lyn pratt
she does awesome stuff and
her water colours are fab as well
i just tweaked it a bit to make it my own
i used the adventure bound dsp to make the clothes have more texture including the throw rug on the back in tartan :)
couch is in tip top taupe
i also used some thread for the wool and used some earring findings for the knitting needles. i also added glasses to the sleeping granddad
i have used a few retired punches to make these guys-label, corner, and some ovals.
the circles are still current

bliss

i don't generally do clean and simple
i am more of a crazy and colourful kinda chick
so when i saw the challenge at casology this week
involving the TROPICAL theme
i had to do a picture that has been
playing around in my head for awhile

so here is my idea-still not quite right but this can be a work in progress-a beginning of an idea
i have been playing around with the smooshing technique
-basically put i splodged ink all over my glass cutting mat,
spritzed with water,
jiggled with the ink to make them all run nicely together
and then plonked a piece of paper on top of it.
simple really and a very cool random technique

my girl's dress was made using the bow tie punch
hat with an oval
hair and arms with the bird punch
waves were just randomly torn out of dsp
sentiment done with the rotary stamp

how to make cookie cutter christmas ornaments

ssshhh christmas is coming
keep calm it is still at lest 2 months away
mwahahahahahahaahahahhahhaah (insert hysterical crafters laugh)

so i have been wanting to make these ornaments for like forever after seeing them on the evil pinterest*
*evil because it wastes so much of my time pining so much pretty cool stuff...sigh....if only pinning was an occupation...sigh....
anyways back to reality
$3 for 8 different metal cookie cutters from the reject shop and some left over dsp and bits and pieces and this is what i came up with
to attach the dsp to the cutters i sued crystal effects. i drew around the cookie cutter with a pencil, cut it out about 1 mm from edge. then added crystal effects and stuck the dsp to the sharp side of the cutter and left them to dry upside down (paper side up if that makes sense?)
then when dry i punched the holes out
(make sure you do this at this stage because it is REALLY hard to do this once you have decorated them...cough cough...ahem don't ask me how i know...swear words were involved that is all)
i attached buttons etc with glue dots and sued a bit of crystal effects as well.

happy birthday

my big brother turned 50 this year so i made him a photo album with some of his childhood photos
i used a kaisercraft album from connies
-a local scrapbook shop with great customer service
and decorated it using the fab new designer series papers from
sale-a-bration from stampin up called everyday enchantment

i used the tags die to make journalling tags
and added buttons for embellishments(see the very cool large buttons!!)
i have punched out photo corners
and used the pretty su in-colours ribbon
and added some bling-not too much because this album is for a man :>

pocket card mini album

another idea popped into my head whilst i was making my huge pocket card for a scrapbooking page
what if i made a few of them and used them in a mini album as pages?
et voila!
here we are!
i used the cheerful treat dsp you can get with your hostess dollars
it is VERY pretty
here are the pages stuck together with the tab punch and ribbon on the pull out pages

and pretty flower using the flower folds die

so how do i make this you ask-eeeaaasssyyy!

take 4 pieces of 12x12 dsp, cut in half and fold in half.
cut off about 5cm from one end.
stick tape on sides and stick together

use craopadile to punch holes along bottom
add strip to top of shortest flap.
 add flowers to each page
make cover using a 30x17cm piece of paper.
cut in half and add to a 7cm strip of card which has been folded at 3cm and 4cm
decorate cover-i used flowers and lace ribbon border punch.

attach all the pages together with twine and stick to inside of cover with sticky strip
cut out an A4 piece of card into 4.
add a tab punch and ribbon to these and use these for your journalling and photos

clear as mud?
good :P
feel free to ask any questions given how awesome my intructions usually are rofl

scrapbook page with a difference

over at the creative crew this month we were taken out of comfort zones (well i was anyways lol) with the challenge of using a pocket card as a scrapbook page...hmmm...took some thinking...

so this is what my brain came up with!
one gigantic pocket card!!!
i used 2 pieces of love letter dsp (now retired sadly) as it fitted the colour scheme of my photos.
i just gave the edges a bit of a curve with the corner punch and folded over the top bits and stuck the sides together. then i inked around the edges.
inside are 2 big photos on bashful blue card with tags attached and journalling on the back
yes that is my handsome hubby :>
as well as him i have added a medallion stamp and added a bit of dsp and an antique brad. the edges of the medallion have been made using circle punches and cropadile out of a scallop die and some bling!
there is also some srtipey thick ribbon and a large silver tag with a felt flower and antique brad
up the top is a bevelled window pane with a sentiment inside it
used the simple letters alphabet for the title and added some bling
the bevelled window pane has a sentiment from best yet and i have added some ribbon and glitter brads
photo tabs have journalling on the back
tags are made using circle punches and dsp and an antique brad

hope this inspires you with your scrapbooking for an idea for loads of journalling

other people who have touched your life with their love

and some punched out bits and pieces and you are on your way!!!
i find this is a perfect way to use up those bits of your stash that is in the "iamnotsureiwanttothrowthisawaysoiwillkeepitforabitlonger" pile :>

pencil case

for a long long time i have had this wooden pencil case just sitting staring at me
waiting patiently for me to do something with it.
i picked up cheap from a chinese junk shop ages ago
thinking that it would be cool for something one day
well that one day is today!!!

i have covered it with some pretty retired dsp
and added some ribbon,
some hodgepodge
and a butterfly
it fits a couple of pens/pencils,
my scissors,
glue
and various other things.

got to have beautiful things in our lives huh?!!

wedding album

my neice got married this month
so i created this unique wedding album for her as my gift to her

i used 2 kaisercraft fairytale castles
and added stampin up's beautiful love letter and newsprint designer series papers
along with a huge collection of accessories such as
ribbon, glitter, chipboard, antique tags, lace, brads, flowers etc etc
plus the obligatory stamps of course :>

normally when i do an album i usually keep it very simple and clean cut
but being the new year and wanting to try new things
i thought i would unleash my inner vintage/shabby chic/visual feast monster upon the world.
i also had limited supplies i.e. what i had brought with me to nz from sydney
so no zipping into the craft room to get stuff.
it also made me use what i had and think up different ways to use them.
i am glad i did this because it made me use a lot of my die cuts more and papers in different ways.

scroll on down for pictures of what it looked like inside....warning there are loads of them!!!!
if you see somethign you like and want to know how i made it or did it please feel free to ask :>

tomorrow i'll show you the card i made
and how i had to wrap it all up-that was a mission all in it's own!!!
