it's life jim but not as we know it

this month over at the creative crew
we were asked to embrace our white space!
to show monochromatic with white (or vanilla)
to any progressions of color
while showcasing the beauty of any image of our choice.

we were asked to do this in a scrapbooking sketch
i decided to graduate the arrows instead of colour.
i wanted to use a variety of arrows
of different sizes and shapes
like here i went from small to large
i also decided to use project life not as it is supposed to be used lol
my boy is awesome-no doubt about it :)

esad retirement blog hop

welcome to the E.S.A.D blog hop
you may have popped in from teresa's blog or just started here. grab a cuppa and sit down on your comfy chair and have a squizz at what we have to show and then head off to chloes

once a year stampin up retires old stock and brings in some new goodies
today we say bye bye to some trusted goodies that have been fun to play with during the year
and if you are lucky might still be able to get before they sell out!

these 2 retiring items have been a firm favourite of mine this year
the stamp set is called tag it and it is the  charity set where stampin up donate $3 of every set sold to ronald macdonald house-a good reason to buy it i think!
the other item is the tasteful trim die for your big shot machine which cuts out a variety of trim and edging to be used for all sorts of fabulous ideas!

here are some of my ideas

a simple card for someone you like or love.
could easily be translated into a masculine birthday card with a different sentiment
a celebrate card using the marker to stamp technique
using the trim as a bold background and colouring in with the markers.
this is a great way to use up scraps of card or dsp to make a easy but striking card
using the trim in a punch art card
this the actual leftover cut out bits
i also used the trim as a stencil to do the clouds
the friend stamp is from a retiring hostess set called postage collection
the bakers twine is calypso coral coloured-another retiring product
finally a scrapbooking layout using the largest trim in a variety of colours.
i also used the sketch alphabet and numbers for my title-a very cheap alphabet set that is really versatile.

my job is to show you the wondrousness that is the label bracket punch
(page 28 in your 2014 occasions catalogue and  $27.95 aud)
and the awesomeness of the cool kid stamp set
(page 29 and clear$33.95 aud)
now you may
(or may not if you haven't passed this way before)
that i am quite partial to a wee bit of punch art
when i get a new punch i play around with it
(after i have stopped gazing lovingly at it and drooling over it of course!)
and i explore it's versatility because let's be honest...
the more it can do for you-the better
I make up a sheet like above and stick all my ideas down so it is a quick and easy reference for me when planning my punch art creations
so here is my first idea.
my kids LOVE adventure time with finn and jake
finn's body really suits using the label bracket punch to it's full potential
you can see how i have cut it up to use it

but punch art is useless without something to add it to...riiiight?!!!
so i made a background using a triangle stencil, some daubers and my ink pads
i drew a dot where i wanted the tip of the triangle to go and then just started daubering in a slice of triangle all the way around
here's the final product!
i used the left-over bits of the punch
to make some tabs on the side.
i also added "awesome" to the card
because finn says it a lot :)
strangely my 8 year old son says it a lot too...
a punch is always good for a stencil too
here i have used the left-over bit to stencil some inky tabs to white card
when i buy a stamp set i also look for versatility
they have to be used in a lot of different ways.
ones with words are great because you can use the letters to make new words.
the cool kid stamp set is quite good for this.
you can see here that all i do is use a marker to colour in the letters i want
here is a homage to doctor who
i have used words and letters from the stamp set to make a phrase i want
and inside the card i have used the punch as a speech bubble and used a marker to put cool in it

 next is a scrapbook page.
stamps are really versatile and
can be used for many things.
here i have used them to make
a background for my page
you can stamp onto pictures which i like
you can also use partial bits of stamps to get a different look.
on this page i have used the following stamp sets
cool kid
gorgeous grunge
geometrical
tape it
make note rotary stamp
hardwood
plus i have also used the hexagon hive thinlit
and the hexagon embossing folder as a stamp
have a close look and see if you see them all lol
i have also mixed up the dsp
just because it comes in a pack doesn't mean you only use that dsp together.
mixing and matching is all good :)
here i have used the high tide and watercolour wonder dsp from the 2014 occasions catalogue

or if you are going backwards you came from

enjoy your blog hopping and see you again sometime:)

scrapbooking with 7 photos

when we were on holiday in adelaide at christmas time the kids' aunty kelly taught them how to make flower darts from dandelion heads. the kids had a complete blast!!!
my son was particularly pleased with this new skill and kept pinging me all holiday every time he found suitable ammunition

got me some retired dsp and letter stamps from stampin up for this layout along with a great collection of different buttons from my stash. I also added a chipboard monkey i bought a while ago knowing at some stage with 4 kids i would need a monkey rofl
here you can see that i have coloured the monkey in with su markers and put crystal effects all over him. I also used a variety of rhinestone brads and clear buttons with the layout.
finally a bit of hodgepodge hardware frame and cool denim ribbon to put a tiny bit of journalling in.

you know what i like about su? they always have the perfect colour to go with my scrapbooking photos and the paper matches the card stock-makes my poor little sleep deprived brain cope with all the matchy-matchiness that i like.

single page layout with 5 photos!

once a year the local lake has a clean up and the community is invited to fish for eels as a way to manage the lake
we never catch anything but weed but it is always a nice day to chillax and soak up the sun and play and hang out together

i went out of my comfort zone with this one and went for a different kind of layout from my normal ones
i used some su dsp with the lacey border-i think it was actually a baby themed paper lol
i also found a chipboard tree amongst my stash and used that as a nice big embellishment
not so sure about the tree with the buttons and the ribbon

what do you think?

scrapbooking with 7 photos

i love baking with the kids
and they love the whole adventure of putting on the cooking clothes and getting their hands all floury
my two youngest i call my domestic princesses lol

to keep in with the theme i used the domestic goddess dsp from su
i added some old lace i had procured from an op shop
and added some embellishments from my stash
plus some old rub ons
(man i loathe using those things-they are a complete pain in the arse aren't they?)
i also used an old chipboard embellishment i had obtained for a boy's layout but never used so i adapted it to my needs with some pretty ribbon and a cup button

simple scrapbooking

just comes together

plus there is also that good feeling when you use up some old stash and mix it all up
i have had those cloud stickers from su for ages and wondered what am i ever going to use them for

scrapbooking with 5 photos-losing that first tooth!!

losing that first tooth is always a
big gigantictically huuuuge deal isn't it?
well when you are 5 it is :>

here's a double layout using some robot paper and chipboard circles and a whole heap of arrows lol
big arrows were just done free-hand but i have a cute arrow die for the little ones.
chipboard circles were done using a circle scissors on the white backing card that comes in the su dsp packets

feel free to share your first tooth layouts in the comments section below :>

scrapbooking with 4 photos

i love simple layouts
this is one of my favourites that i have done recently
just 4 photos lined up with a bit of ribbon, a strip of dsp, 4 matching flowers and a title
the flowers are the bigz xl flower folds with circle punches inside and a square rhinestone brad and i have inked around the outside

eeeeeeeasy!
