convention swaps 2014 skater cat

this year for convention i wanted to step outisde my usual safe space and experiment a bit with punch art and do something a bit unusual.

not sure who will actually like this swap but i went for a bit of a retro feel to it using colours i dont usually like

this cool skater cat is amde from the owl punch, oval, label and small circle.

his t-shirt was made using a cantaloupe marker on daffodil card

say what i want to say but am too pc to say it lmao

so here is my ode to grumpy cat

 using the owl punch and geometrical stamp set from stampin up

 all owl punch pieces except for eyebrows

-they were made using petite curly label punchhope your day is beter than grumpy cats

a home amongst the gum trees

Give me a home among the gum trees

with lots of plum trees, a sheep or two, a kangaroo

a clothes line out the back, verandah out the front

and an old rocking chair

a great aussie song

one i thought i would try and imitate via stamping, punch art and collage.

this is a 3d version i thought i would have a try at.

i used the natural composition paper as the base then added leaves die cut from dsp

house is stamped using the hardwood stamp with a roof from the hexagon embossing folder

swing is a retired stamp set called summer afternoon and cat and dog are from cool kid set

not sure it works but it was fun to make!

sympathy cards

i am often asked for custom made cards for special occasions.

this week i have been asked to make sympathy cards for 2 very special critters.

i find sympathy cards hard to make due to the very nature of them

 the first card was for a lady who had lost her precious tortoiseshell cat. apparently he had a fondness for watching the world go by from the comfort of his lounge window hence why i did this design for a card. I used lovely as a tree as the background and brayered the grass and sky

the next card was for a cow. a bit of an unusual request for sure and i wanted to make it happy but not too cutesy. the customer loved it and thought it was perfect which is what i was after!

meiow!!!

we have a little black cat called mog

she is very adorable

and very friendly

except at 3am in the morning when we find out that someone left her outside for the evening....sigh....

she has a very forlorn meiow that is quite hard to ignore at that ungodly hour of the morning

this calendar was made with her in mind

 this was one of those el cheapo $2 calendars from the reject shop that i have twiddled with

just added some red card, drawn some bricks onto it with a white gel pen

made a window with some grey and black card.

moon is made using a 13/8" circle punch and the star is made from trio blossoms flower

 here are the pieces you will need to make the cat

the punches used were:

blossoms petal-front body, tail, ears

ornament-back body

word window-legs, paws

cupcake-eyes, tongue and nose

1/2" circle-cheeks

1" circle-face

i sponged around the edges of the black in white so the body can be seen better.

the front body has been stuck down with a dimensional to give it some lift.

cool cats

my eldest turns 7 this august and has asked for a animal themed birthday party phew nice and eeeeasy! her favourite animal is a cat so her invites were sent out yesterday looking like this

the cat itself was copied off a babushka doll template i had lol and i added the slit punch for arms cake was made from square punch scallop edge punch plus its little leftover line candles were a square punch cut into about 5 strips wiht the flames made from cutting a small heart in half

here are the cats all made up and ready to be re-homed! i have a couple spare so the first 3 people to email me what the collective name for a group of cats is will be sent one! cheers ears
