how to make a dora cake

so last night at 7pm
just as she is heading for bed
miss almost 4 asks me if i can make her a cake for school
"a dora cake peeese mummy"
sigh
those big eyes looking soulfully at me i cannot resist
but given food shopping day is the next day
and i am home alone with the 4 kids it is not like i can zip out to the shops for stuff
so this is what went down instead
i am sorry if you came here for an insightful blog post about making an awesome cake
if anything i will possibly make a post at cake wrecks...who knows?
anyways here is what i made with very little ingredients and virtually no time
an egg free chocolate cake
egg free cos there were none not because of allergies i might add!! lol
i added grated apple instead-hope it will work.
miss wanted 'lellow' icing, sprinkles, pink lollies, candles, a  happy birthday to me, and dora.
my printer is not working at the moment
so i attacked a tissue box and stuck a kebab stick on dora's head rofl
she went to bed as it was cooking
when she woke up this morning i heard the screams of delight
thank goodness miss 4 has such awesome expectations of what she wants
for her the cake was perfect
me, on the other hand...

birthday boy

i was lucky this week to have the school holidays and 2 very enthusiastic helpers with the party preparations.
i had them both using the rollers to decorate the party bags.
miss 7 used a halloween jumbo roller whilst birthday boy used the party standard roller.
the party bags got done very quickly and looked awesome!

next was the cake!
birthday boy wanted a dragon.
after an extensive search on the internet we came across this example
as one that he liked and that mummy could do :>
some were amazing but a little beyond my skills
this is what we ended up with!
roll ups for the wings and fire
marshmellows with a choc drop for the eyes
easter eggs for the nostrils
banana lollies for the claws
biscuits for the spikes
it was chocolate underneath with strawberry jam sticking it together
birthday boy loved it and there is not much left
thank goodness lol

and now for completely different!

yes normally i blog about cards and stuff but this time i thought i would show off my youngest daughter's first birthday cake i made i actually got the idea for the image from a card and transferred it from card to icing! this is the inside-eek! the big kids decided that katie needed rainbow cake so i got out the food colouring and swished it all around. to get this effect all you do is divide your cake batter into 3 and add the colouring to each one and then bung them all ino the cake tin-eeeasy! my kitchen after the cake bomb had gone off! the finished result the candle had to go there because that is where my 2 year old decided to stick her finger into the cake -hehehehe- so i had to hide her cake making skills! cheers ears
