to the happy couple

this month i am very happy to be selected for the creative crew mega round
and LOVE the creative ideas i get designing inspiration for challenges
even if my stuff might be a bit 'different!' lol

one challenge was
May SU Creative Crew Holiday Focus: National Photograph Month

Create a card that looks like a photograph by putting a border around your image and making the image glossy. You may use On Film Framelits or make your own, you may use window sheets for glossiness or crystal effects.

here is my punch art version of that challenge.
i made an easel card with the happy couple as the focus.

love heart on the inside to write the sentiment
here is the easel card in action on its side

come and join us for a month of challenges at the creative crew on the splitcoast stampers forum

wedding card box

my awesome nephew and his beautiful fiance got married last week and i headed home to nz for the wedding.
it was just devine.
i wanted to give them a handmade gift and used their wedding invitation as inspiration.

the card was all lacey and vintagey looking.
i layered the card with a variety of lace and trim from my stash and a luxurious red satin ribbon
dsp was from stampin up and i added some rub-ons to give it a bit more of a vintagey feel

the card box was actually a recipe box from kaisercraft but i adapted it.
i wanted something useful but pretty adn got the idea of a wedding card box off the interwebs.

the top of the box uses the same lace and trim as the card.
i also added some suede paper flowers and stamped the paper with the retired elements of style stamp set. the box was painted first with razzleberry ink and then once the dsp was on i sponged more ink aroudn the edges.
inside i decorated with the stamped card and some dsp.
 the combined package.
made it safely all the way to nz thank good ness.
the beautiful couple

take care

wedding card

 love is in the air
quite a few people i know are getting married at the moment
it is quite lovely
so here is a take on a card i saw ages ago and liked and wanted to make
(but can't remember the source sorry if it is yours-please let me know)

loads of little itty bitty punches and pearls
(apart from the one in the front there the rest of them are in the middle of the flower lolololol)
i used the thinlits words, large scallop punch and the leaves die to get my card done.

white wedding

in january i was delighted to head over to new zealand to be at my beautiful niece's wedding
i made her this wedding album

today i was sifting through some photos and decided to use some wedding photos for a scrapbook page as my sample for upcoming winter classes  i am having
this is what i came up with!
i used the hope and strength stamp set along with the always set
i also used the so swirly wheel to create an embossed background for my paper
just wanted to show some of the details especially the stamping on twill tape and the faux stitching
i make my own mixture of embossing powder from 1/3 each of white, clear and dazzling diamonds.
on the background i gently sponged some poppy parade over one side just to help bring out the embossing i have done.
i am offering this page a a class during winter.
please check out my classes page for more details.

how to wrap a gift

my wedding gift proved quite tricky to wrap up so instead of paper around it i went for the box approach.
however....
i did not factor in the pointyness (is that a real word even?) of the album and how tall it was.
i blithely bought a papier mache hat box from spotlight presuming it would fit.
i even decorated it with beautiful newsprint and love letter dsp
and then i attempted to put the gift inside....
it did fit sideways but it stuck out a bit on top...
so i added a whole heap of red cellophane and a nice big thick black and white ribbon
and made it look like it was supposed to not fit.
sweeeeeeeeet!

yes that is a doiley on the top!

so that was our gift to the newlyweds.

here is a bit more detail so you cna check out all the accessories i added-good old tombow glue i do love thee lol
and a pretty envelope for it to go in,of course

wedding album

my neice got married this month
so i created this unique wedding album for her as my gift to her

i used 2 kaisercraft fairytale castles
and added stampin up's beautiful love letter and newsprint designer series papers
along with a huge collection of accessories such as
ribbon, glitter, chipboard, antique tags, lace, brads, flowers etc etc
plus the obligatory stamps of course :>

normally when i do an album i usually keep it very simple and clean cut
but being the new year and wanting to try new things
i thought i would unleash my inner vintage/shabby chic/visual feast monster upon the world.
i also had limited supplies i.e. what i had brought with me to nz from sydney
so no zipping into the craft room to get stuff.
it also made me use what i had and think up different ways to use them.
i am glad i did this because it made me use a lot of my die cuts more and papers in different ways.

scroll on down for pictures of what it looked like inside....warning there are loads of them!!!!
if you see somethign you like and want to know how i made it or did it please feel free to ask :>

tomorrow i'll show you the card i made
and how i had to wrap it all up-that was a mission all in it's own!!!
