did you know?
that christmas is coming?
really
truely
just in case you didn't notice all the big dangley christmas decorations at your local mall i thought i had better remind you lol
and you know what that means don't you?
getting organised for it and all that involves-the good the bad and the ugly.
for us mcilhattons we are running away to new zealand to spend time with family. this will be my second christmas without my mum and being back home in the loving embrace of that extended family is what is needed for that lonely soul.
so it means here at campbelltown central i am having to be organised early cos i seriously need to get things made before i go and pack them up. hence why i am busy making christmas cards. some are for me, some are orders for customers and some are for demos for workshops.
here are a few ideas...
the whole "let's make everything match" thing that people like. here is a bag, tag and card. you could also do a decoration and cracker-those will be added in later when i get around to doing them lol. below are some close up shots of them.
i have also been fooling around with non-traditional colours for xmas. i mean, c'mon people, that whole green and red and white thing can get boring after a while..not to mention uses a whole heap of those colours up and you have to buy more...wait..hang on..that is sooo not a bad thing....lol
anyways here are some cards in the theme of white...bland boring plain old white....but i like the crispness and cleaness and, dare i say, wholesomeness of it...
one i have gone with texture and sued the cuttlebug to emboss the background. the other one i have used silver embossing powder wiht a touch of dazzling diamonds to add some sparkle to a simple card.

natural cards
now as you may have guessed my cards tend to be a bit bright and bold...
not much subtle going on unless you count subtle as a truck lol.
so i thought doing a card swap using natural elements in it would be good for me and it would also see me using up all those colours that i seem to have loads of like browns and greens
i used one of my favourite stamp sets 'inspired by nature'. this set is just beautiful and i have used the grass side. the lovely niamh is modelling it for me with her cutest cheesey grin lol!!!
first i coloured the background using water colour crayons in the rich regals colours which i washed over with an aqua painter.
then I have layered different colours of grass onto watercolour paper using a mixture of earth element inks.
after it had all dried i glues some yellow seed beads onto the grass to add texture and a bit of bling lol
the finished card was then stuck to some white gloss and card stock.
i tied some twine around and tied it all together with some buttons from my collection.
I also added the 'live with passion' phrase to the side.
these cards are for my essential baby cardmakers swap for november so i had better post them off shortly.

what do stampers do....
when they are married to board game geeks?
why they stamp the night away in peace and quiet whilst their hubbies play board games with their geeky board gaming friends. mind you, hubby did have to leave ample snacks behind before he left....mmmmm.....whittakers kiwifruit chocolate....mmmmm
ok
enough rambling
miss siobhan has a 6th birthday party to go to tomorrow and I promised her that i would make her friend some thing cool with my Stampin Up stuff....
so I have
I just hope I have met my picky client's brief lol
If you haven't guessed it is a fairy party!
So...that is why we have a magical glittery fairy wand made with pink passion and kiwi kiss card stock. I have stamped a flourish from Season of Joy (man oh man that flourish is sooooooo useful lol) in Basic Black. Then I punched out a couple of circles and a scallop circle and added plenty of olive supernova glitter..yeah I know...looks like gold huh? I then added a ribbon from my collection...ssshhhh...it's not SU stuff! don't tell! but it says party girl on it and is kiwi kiss flavoured so I thought I should use it.

Next was the tin. This was rescued from the recycling bin and cleaned up. I added some retired dsp to the outside and added some ribbon to the tops. I also punched out some stars and added the spirally tree from trendy trees to the middle in basic black. I punched out holes with my cropadile (did i ever mention how cool that thing is?) out of the tin and put in a wire handle and added some ribbon to that. Because the tin was a bit rusty on the inside I also put in some plain white paper with classic stars rolled over it to hide it and pretty it up.
Inside the tin is a small cello bag of hair clips and a necklace. The cello bag was stamped with white staz on with classic stars wheel stamp and tied together with silver thread and 3 punched out stars. The hair clips inside are buttons glued onto plain pink and purple hair clips with tombow...I am waiting to see if the tombow is girl-proof lol.
The card is a fairy (non SU) that I have covered in various shades of pink and purple glitter after stamping it with versamark and black embossing powder.
okies...all done now...am off to bed and wait for the ungodly hour that my hubby will return to tell me of his glorious victories!!!

pretty ballerina punch art
sick of punch art yet?
I'M NOT!!!!
lol
here is my take on a ballerina i found lurking on the net
at http://micheleknight.wordpress.com/2009/08/24/ballerina-punch-art/.
i have also included instructions on how to make my beauty in this photo below.
i used close to cocoa for her hair,
blush blossom for the skin
(although initially i did use creamy caramel for a more suntanned look)
vellum for the tutu top
dsp for the dress (great for using up those scraps in your scrap box)
when i finshed mine i also added some
dazzling diamonds on to her tutu,
3 diamantes to her tiara
and a bit of blush to her cheeks with a su pretty in pink marker.
i found using the 2 way glue pen the easiest thing to stick it all together rather than dst or snail.
here are a few others i did
plus one made easily by my 6 year old
complete with ties for her ballet shoes, finger nails painted and eyelashes done lol
thanks for looking

5 birthday cards
here are some more cards i have made for another client. she wanted 5 very different ones that used flowers or natural elements. i started with colour as my inspiration as i figured that would be an easy way to get 5 different cards. i also went to one of my favourite websites http://www.pagemaps.com/cards.htm for some layout ideas. i have used mostly su stuff but i have also delved into my stash to get some other cool stuff that seriously needs to be used up!!!
this one used some flowery border thingy i had that was already cut out and ready to go so i tunred it into a little scene with vellum clouds and a 3d sun. not my favouritest card in the whole wide world but it turned out how i pictured it in my head.
this one came from the 3d sticker in my stash which very cooley matched the su dsp i had. the top bit has been cuttlebugged with the spotty embossing sheet and some pretty su felt flowers to top it off.
have been trying to upload the rest of the images but for some reason blogger doesn't want them...ho hum will just have to leave you guessing then hey?!

punch art people
tuesday night was craft night and although we were supposed to be making christmas cards we ended up playing with the punches and my scrap box and made these little beauties.
here are the punches i used and how i made i made the little girls.
you will need:
1" circle punch
1-1/4" circle punch
word window
round tab
spiral punch
i cut the word window one in half for the legs and when i stuck them down onto the dress i used one wide strip of dst. the fringe on their hair was doen wiht those special fancy scissors you bought heaps of when you first start out and then never use because they get a bit daggy...you know the kind...i bet you are like me and have them on a shelf somewhere hahahahahaha
these dolls were made by staci-oiur resident 11 year odl who we get to test out cool things like this out on to see if they are girl fiendly....i secretly think she quite likes being the subject of experimental testing lol. these are all little mini mes of her besties....aren't they just the cutest-i really like the way she did the shoes
originally i was inspired by my su sister ryn http://rynscraps.blogspot.com/ with her china dolls. she challenged us during a cybercrop for the inklings and i promised her that i would make soemthing...so hence my interest in punch art
i am still in the search for punch art aliens...ryn has done an excellent job of inspiring me (THANK YOU RYN!!!!).
if you have made a punch art alien please drop me a line and show me what you have
blog candy for all examples :>
